Which of these is worse for my hair? salon or store-bought dye?

i have dyed my hair a lot and i have always gotten it done professionally at a salon. but i was thinking about just buying the kind from the store instead, because it is a LOT cheaper. would it be better for my hair to get the do it yourself kind? i thought that maybe it would since i dont have to ';bake'; my hair under a heater. is it better for your hair since there's no heat? or does the heat just help the dye to set more and the dye itself is what does the damage?Which of these is worse for my hair? salon or store-bought dye?
Both are very terrible.

The bad part about them, is the certain chemical in it. Look for a hair dye with no alcohol or ammonia, which you will likely have to do online.

The heat bakes/fries it into your hair, and the extreme heat (in spite of the place done) will permanently damage your roots, a small amount at a time.Which of these is worse for my hair? salon or store-bought dye?
store bought unless they have really popular dye
Honey the heat is what allows the dye to penetrate into the hair shaft. The dye is about the same, the heat just causes it to process faster and stay in much longer. The problem with box crap from the drugstore is that we have no idea what it is, or what volume of developer they are using. This is crucial stuff when dying hair, so you are going to have unpredictable results from box dye and it will not stay as long. If you are just doing black or dark brown, go ahead, but if it is anything more complicated, don;t bother, you are going to regret.
