  • Is there a hair salon in freehold that cuts hair for people with trichotillomania?

all/any hairstylists should be able to. That is part of their schooling be prepared when coming across those sort of problems and even scalp diseases. I've worried about that myself and the stylists I went to see were able to cut my hair and even give advice.

I go to the Paul Mitchell Beauty school which across the street from FIU. I go there because the price is cheap and they use high grade products (obv. Paul Mitchell) and I totally trust the students there with my hair.

How do i get black hair dye out of my hair without going to the salon?

So I dyed my hair black in December and I'm really getting fed up of it. I've tried everything to get the color out, from bleach to Javel to Blonde hair dye. It simply will not come out. The only thing that lightened it was bleach, but not enough go blond again and I left it on for like 2 hours. I'm NOT going to cut my hair, so don't even suggest it; and i WONT pay like a hundred bucks to have it stripped at a salon. How do i get black hair dye out of my hair without going to the salon?
Go to walmart and get a dye remover thingy,,,its in the section that has the hair coloring crap. How do i get black hair dye out of my hair without going to the salon?
u should defenentely get the die remover. If u want 2 do it safely then just let it grow and just cut ur split ends while it grows like u didn't even die it.

Which is the most fun experience - a visit to the hair salon/barbershop, to the gym or to the ';zoo';?

';zoo'; - whatever it is that is like a zoo for you. in my case, it's the office... some of my officemates are funny in a wacko way!!!Which is the most fun experience - a visit to the hair salon/barbershop, to the gym or to the ';zoo';?
if you go to salon and have your hair done - you will feel relax and pretty (if you like the way how they did your haircut, lol)

if you go to the gym - you will feel tired but healthy

if you go to the zoo - you can give smile to the animals in the zoo and of course have fun with your friends while you are in the zoo. It's easy to make fun of things if you are in the zoo specially if you have funny company :-)Which is the most fun experience - a visit to the hair salon/barbershop, to the gym or to the ';zoo';?

How much is it to get your hair done at a salon?

if i was gonna go there and have them style my hair for my winter formal (spiraling it) about how much would they charge? How much is it to get your hair done at a salon?
around 25-50$ but it totally is on the store that you go to

if there is a one of thoses traing hair salons around you go there it is way cheaper thereHow much is it to get your hair done at a salon?
I DONT KNOW.. BUT IM GUESS A LOT..
purplepa... is right and don't forget to tip!
I would think it would matter where you live. City or country. Also the length of your hair. The absolute minimum I would think would be $30.00 regardless.
Depending on the salon and the difficulty of your style, I would say about $50.
um... why dont you call them?
just to straighten it costs $50

to spiral it should cost between $60-$80
maybe 35 dollars because its pretty simple to do spiral curls so good luck
The longer your hair is the more it will cost. It also depends on where you go and what all you want them to do. Some places are cheaper than others. You will have to call around or visit them to find out for sure.
I got a full hair dye for medium length and it was $150

If u went to a hair salon and just asked for them to style and cut ur hair so it looks good on ur face, can u do that...If you dont know how u want to cut ur hair.Going to a hair salon and asking for asian hairstyle(MALE)?
Yes... you could... but there are so many hairstyles they could pick from. It also means your allowing someone to do a half *** job while cutting you hair. Unless you know the hair stylist personally or they are friends of the family, I suggest picking a hair style that you would like first.

When you go to the salon to get a hair cut, do they wash and style your hair too?

I know this seem like a silly question but I have never gone to a salon for a hair cut. This will be my first time going and the price is $45 dollars. This price seem rather low which is why I am wondering if they wash and style as well. When you go to the salon to get a hair cut, do they wash and style your hair too?
its not a silly question, its your first time =]

you think 45 is low? lol mine is about 20 for wash and cut. but yes, that should include the wash.. you should never be afraid to ask the stylist. idc if im spending money ill ask as many questions as i want. lol, so you should ask/call when you get there or whatever... if that includes the wash. When you go to the salon to get a hair cut, do they wash and style your hair too?
Yes, usually they will shampoo, condition and dry for free. But the cut is $45 dollars which is actually alot unless its a good place! They will style it if its a styler if not you have to go to a seperate person. :) have fun!!!!
Ya mine washes if you tell them to and just assume you want it washed when you come in so if they dont ask, it'll b washed. just tell them what to do with your hair when they're done and they usually style it.
They usually always wash it but some salons will charge you extra to style it after they cut it so make sure you ask if the cut and style are both included in the price.
uhm. yehh they do. if yhu ask them to... but idk if it does... but i THINK they cost more
    Yess. Of course they do(:
    yes they do.

  • Anyone know where I can purchase Salon Exclusive hair relaxer at?

I get mine awal-mart and it is great..it works for me.lol..Anyone know where I can purchase Salon Exclusive hair relaxer at?
DONT DO IT! youll burn your hair beyond belief. salon products are roughly twice the strength of public products, so extreme skill and speed need to be used in order for them to be used with predictable, stable results. aside from giving you a warning, try ebay or another online product retailer, Mizani has a great relaxer when used properly, however i doubt a non-stylist would be able to use it properly. save your hair and bite the bullet and just get it done properly at a salon. I cannot stress enough that texture services NEED to be done in a salon. more so than color. relaxers melt your hair, then harden it back up into a striaght configuration. not on long enough, itll still be curly, on too long and you wont have any hair left after the rinse. you need to work fast and know exactly when to take it off. stylists are trained in such things, the average person wont be able to do this properly. you'll probably be slower then a stylist too, so where you first apply will be more processed then where you finnished, so you risk having half over relaxed, half under relaxed hair, not a good look. if you do this yourself, PLEASE start in the back and work it through everywhere else aside from the front hairline, let it process for 3-5 minutes, then go through the front. the front hair is finer and more sensitive to chemicals so it doesnt need as much processing. BE CAREFUL.

I opened my hair salon 5 years ago.Iam looking at taking it that next step further and making it a bit more ?

upper class and more professional and want to know what the first steps would be and some hints?I opened my hair salon 5 years ago.Iam looking at taking it that next step further and making it a bit more ?
I am not sure what the ';asthetics'; of your salon are but consider a new interior look. It can be as simple as a coat of paint and some new lighting or lighting angles. Try to be a minimalist, not a ton of stuff going on all over the place...less is more. A good example would be to scope out the salons in the area that you feel are a step above yours in look and clientel. See what they are doing, look at their pricing and keep in competition. Your prices may be too low. If people like your services they will pay more $$$ so keep in friendly competition and step up your game. Also, host an open house, a grand re-opening of sorts. Word of mouth is the best advertising tool (and cheapest) available to you. Get your game plan going, throw a bash and make it happen. You have taken the first step! Good luck!I opened my hair salon 5 years ago.Iam looking at taking it that next step further and making it a bit more ?

-when speaking directly to her? When scheduling a hair appointment with your salon, what do you tell them? what do you ask your hairdresser-?
When you make the appointment just tell them what time. And what service you want..Hair cut, color, perm, etc. So they wil know how much time to leave open for you.

When you get there you can discuss the style.

It's irritating when people describe what style they want over the phone.

Especially if it is a new client you have never seen beforeWhen scheduling a hair appointment with your salon, what do you tell them? what do you ask your hairdresser-?
You tell them what you like and dont like about your hair and what you would like it to look like in the end. Also how often you style it and if you are willing to spend time on it or not.

If you are going to a good salon they should ask you all of this on their own.
well when yhoo schedule it just tell her yhoo need an appointment.

Does getting your hair dyed at a salon make it last longer?

I want to dye my hair dark brown but whenever i get the dyes from the supermarket they just was out to a yuck colour so if i go het it dun properly at a hair dresser would it wash out? i just want to go dark brown so i can have my hair the same colour as my regrowth because its blondish atm and im sik of having to get it dun all th time and i prefer me brown anyway but hate it washing out.Does getting your hair dyed at a salon make it last longer?
Yea but it also depends on the brand they but regardless with all the produts they use with it, it will last longer, look even, have shine, and look the closest to what you want.Does getting your hair dyed at a salon make it last longer?
I think that salons use professional quality dye, which makes it last longer. Also, they do a much more thorough job then you can do by yourself.

You should use shampoo and conditioner that is intended for color treated hair. I use Pureology Antifade Complex. It's expensive but worth every penny.
when its the colorfull hair color then it wont last it will change colors and come out fugley..trust me it have happen to me . if your going to dye it dark brown get it from a salon it will last a while but eventually it will wear off like mys did . :
    |You should figure out the right shade, by coloring one part of your hair, that way if it stays its only a little part.

When you find it dye it permanently or Non permanent.

I hope it helps. And i don't find the salon any different (my opinion)

    ^_^
Not only will it last longer but it will look ALOT better. It will be more vibrant and not as dull as box colors always turn out
    whenever you go to the salon;

it always looks better %26amp; lasts longer. :]
If you get it done at a Salon it will fade in about 2-3 months. It'll take like 4-5 months for it to be completely out though i think..
ya the salon makes ur hair prettier and ya the hair dye lasts longer

How would I get blonde bits in my hair without going to a salon?

    i don't mean highlights, i mean random streaks/patches, like this girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9frhAEd7A鈥?/a>

how would i do that? my hair is dyed dark brown already. would buying a blonde colourant work? How would I get blonde bits in my hair without going to a salon?
Peroxide...I tried it a bit on my hair. But I don't know if it might damage. You can never tell on my hair. How would I get blonde bits in my hair without going to a salon?
You would have to bleach it first then whatever shade of blonde you want dye it over.

Best thing to do would be to buy extensions. Long strands and cut them. Then clip them into your hair.
I would clip in some blonde pieces
    put them in yourself lol

What should this hair style cost at a nicer salon?

I live in Huntington Beach, Ca. I would like a nice salon.

My hair length is to the middle of my neck. It is faded black, about 6 months old. I want thick chunks bleached in different places (doesnt have to be super light because Im putting in red after its bleached.) and then the rest re-dyed black.

    And a hair cut.

    1. What would this cost?

    2. What would be too much to pay?

What is the difference between getting your hair died at a salon and at home?

I have just recently died my hair and it turned out horriable! so i got me thinking the same thing would have happened if i were

to go to a salon. In hair dye its pretty much all same chemicals so whats the difference if i were to dye my hair at a salon or at home? What is the difference between getting your hair died at a salon and at home?
They know what they are doing at the salon and the color they use is better than what we buy at the store. I have done my hair at home and had it done at a salon. I much prefer the salon. What is the difference between getting your hair died at a salon and at home?
The difference is probably the quality of the dye used. If you buy a 3-4 dollar kit, it's gonna look cheap and brassy. If you spring for a better brand, like L'oreal, the colors are more true, and turn out better.

It can also turn out poorly if you don't follow the directions exactly, or if you choose a bad color match for your skin tone.
No, they custom mix colors at salons for you. Alot of colors just dont go with natrual colors and will come out very bad. They will know if it will work on you or not. The chemicals are alot alike but the dyes are diffrent. If you follow directions perfectly and arent doing to radical of a hair color you can do it at home but it may come out very flat, like you painted your hair. So try the salon, if you hate it they should dye it back to your normal color for free.

What's the procedures at a hair salon?

My hair was always cut by my mom... *cringes* %26gt;.%26lt;; ...so I've decided to go to a hair salon this time to have my hair cut professionally. Can you also give me the average price for a cut? What's the procedures at a hair salon?
I pay about 40 dollars, minus tip. Usually the tip is about 6 bucks because the lady does a very good job. You find the one you want, usually referred by a friend or something, call them up and ask for an appointment. When you go in, tell them what you'd like (better yet, bring a picture!) and let them do their stuff.

You could go to SuperCuts or something if you want something cheaper, though. Just be very alert and make sure they're doing what you want. ;)

    Edit:

Often the salons at the mall will say ';drop-ins welcome'; or something in front of their store. So just go on in and tell them what you'd like! If it doesn't say that, you can go ahead in and ask if they accept drop-ins, and if not ask for an appointment. :)What's the procedures at a hair salon?
About $15-$60 it depends were u go.

What is the easiest way to highlight your hair without going to a salon and whatnot?

There be a couple friends to help out. What is the easiest way to highlight your hair without going to a salon and whatnot?
    Hey there!

As you said, you have very dark hair because you are Asian. Before you do any highlights to your hair, you will need to get a bleach done first. Otherwise the highlight will not show! Remember, bleaching is very damaging to the hair, as it contains many bad chemicals for your hair. If you decide to go to the salon just to get a bleach, you can then go to your nearest Sally's and buy highlighting kits there!

Good luck %26amp; Thanks for your question! What is the easiest way to highlight your hair without going to a salon and whatnot?
Changing your hair color can be extremely damaging to your hair, especially if you are going lighter. If you are going darker, look for products that do not contain peroxide or ammonia. If you are going lighter, save your money and go to the salon. My sister really damaged her hair and had a lot of breakage. Her hair was really unhealthy and she had to cut it short. Color at home with caution.
    get a box highlighting kit??

but if you have very dark almost blackish hair, than you will also need a bleaching kit first!

    good luck

you can buy a highlight kit at the store... like publix or something....

Will getting my hair thinned out at a salon be damaging to the hair shaft?

Its crazy-thick, and tends to poof, to no avail. But I have heard that razoring or shearing it can cause damage, making you prone to breakage and split ends. Any thoughts? Will getting my hair thinned out at a salon be damaging to the hair shaft?
no it won't damage your hair anymore than cutting it. but before and after any hair cut you should condition really well to prevent split ends anyway. cutting gets rid of split ends but if the hair is already damage or dry it can make new ones. Will getting my hair thinned out at a salon be damaging to the hair shaft?
if a new blade is not used and they do not use the correct angle when cutting, split ends and breakage will occur

Would Regis Hair salon be good for me?

I was wondering if I should get my hair cut at regis because some of my friends do and their hair is really cute. How much does a women's hair cut cost? Do they show you a good everyday way to style it? How has your experience with them been? Thanks!!!Would Regis Hair salon be good for me?
Just ask your friends who they go to there, and then that way you will get the same stylist cutting your hair. It is the stylist not the salon that gives you a good hair cut, you could be at the most famous salon and if the stylist doesn't know what they are doing it will be a horrid haircut. A good stylist will show you different ways on how to style your hair, you just have to ask, and if you don't feel comfortable when you sit down, you can leave, just because you are in the chair doesn't mean you have to stay there.Would Regis Hair salon be good for me?

My hair type is curly and getting your hair thinned at a salon is absolutely fine if it is done correctly.Pros-can eliminate puffiness, can allow for better movement, can allow for less styling time and can also feel a lot lighter on your head.Cons-if done incorrectly can actually make hair appear even puffier once it starts to grow out,can be thinned unevenly or can give hair choppy appearance.Suggestion -call ahead to your salon and make sure you can have pre-appointment consultation with your stylist so that they understand exactly what your expectations are. What are the PROS and CONS of getting your HAIR THINNED at a salon?
There aren't any pros. All it does is strip the hair of its needed nutrients, can leave it looking life less and can also cause air loss. If you want a thinner look, use a flat iron please!
It makes my hair really wavy and dry but I don't think it has ever ';thinned'; my hair...
thin it out but only from the bottom and especially in the back

What is an average price range for getting my hair done at a salon with redken shades EQ?

when I want to go from a reddish brown to a white blonde?

help appreciated (:What is an average price range for getting my hair done at a salon with redken shades EQ?
Shades wont lift your hair enough to go from red/brown to platinum. You will need to get bleach/ toner to get it to look right. Redken makes some excellent bleach products %26amp; if you are going to a salon, you should be very happy with the results.

Should I go to the salon to get my hair dyed?

I'm going to be dying my hair a dark brown from my original dirty blonde colour. I've done it before, but I've only used at home dyes and have done it myself. The colour doesn't last long when I do this, and it always seems to fade to this ugly colour.

Would I have better luck with getting my hair dyed at the salon? Or would I have the same fading?Should I go to the salon to get my hair dyed?
yes! go to a salon. u dont have to go to an expensive one either. i go to cost cutters. u probably wont get all of your hair done( ul miss spots) if you do it yourself.

i dye my hair black from brown. after i did it out of a box it faded after a few day and turned a greyish blue color after a few weeks. when i did it at the salon it lasted sooo much longer, and the color was soooo much brighter. u can ask them to put a glase i their too.if it wasnt what u wanted i think u have 7 days to go back to the salon and change it( only if it wasnt what u intended).Should I go to the salon to get my hair dyed?
no.. i think you should DIY! its will save you heaps of money and its really simple to do it at home.

first make sure that you choose the right colour. and to prevent fading you should wrap your hair in cling wrap when the hair dye is to make the colour stronger. you can even apply a gentle heat with a blow drier for an even intense colour.

also, use a shampoo and colour designed for coloured hair.

    good luck!
its always better to get your hair done at a salon and they will have better strength dye.
salon is tad more expensive, but def. worth it

My hair salon is starting a false rumor!?

I called my hair salon today to make an appointment. They called back a few hours later to tell me that last time I had made a perverted statement, which is totally false. They said they wouldnt cut my hair, which is the least of my worries. I asked what they said and the owner said he couldn't remember. I own a business in the same development and neet to correct the situation. I am thinking of contacting a lawyer and communicating through the community this injustice. I don't care about going to the salon, but care more about my reputation. My hair salon is starting a false rumor!?
If you're right then don't worry about it. It's time to find another salon. My hair salon is starting a false rumor!?
Before wasting your money on a lawyer, write them a letter asking them to respond in writing and explain exactly what was said, as you can not defend yourself against rumors.

They must be specific, who did you offend? what was said that was so offensive?

Do not threaten them with legal action in your letter, instead remain polite and ask politely that they please explain what is going on.

If they respond then you can take it from there, either go to a lawyer or clear up the misunderstanding.
Well, if they start spreading rumors, things that are NOT true, about you, and it hurts your business or reputation, you can sue for slander. Call a lawyer! Sue the pants off their candy a@@@@!!
Maybe you don't think you're as dirty as you really are

    **** fuckity **** ****

    ...to me sounds like

Daisies and tulips line the garden gracefully bending in the summer wind
I work at a salon and they are notorious for gossip and rumors. Maybe there can be a way you can talk with this owner. It's crap that they're putting you through this, but if the owner won't talk to you, then getting a lawyer wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't know. I feel for you, though, hun.

  • Anyone know of a hair salon that participates in locks of love around the Western suburbs of Chicago?

a salon near Lombard, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, etc would be great.... also a perferably cheap salon. As a college student I am somewhat strapped for cash.Anyone know of a hair salon that participates in locks of love around the Western suburbs of Chicago?
This page has all the info you need: http://www.locksoflove.org/donate_hair.p鈥?/a>Anyone know of a hair salon that participates in locks of love around the Western suburbs of Chicago?
i have no idea. Your best bet would be to call around to the different hair saloons to find one that will do it.
most places do, just ask them.

    great clips participates, but....

you don't get paid for your hair, you get a free cut...

you also have to have at least 10 inches of hair!
i know great clips is involved with locks of love.
    zazu in hinsdale
I donated hair there a few years ago. I printed out the form, cut my own hair, put it in a ziploc and mailed it ^_^. Have you checked out their website? It says the salon will usually have a sticker or something on their window to let you know if they do the free hair cut thing. But if you're just wanting to donate hair, you can print out the form online and bring it with you to the salon and they can help you out with it (cutting the hair right and stuff). It's great to know your unwanted hair is not just going to waste...I'm currently growing mine out again and plan to donate it once it's long enough.
Not in the Chicago area to answer this question, sorry

Do women become sexually excited while having their hair done in hair salon?

What the hell kind of questin is that?

Do men get sexually excited when they have their hair cut in a barber shop?

What the hell...Do women become sexually excited while having their hair done in hair salon?
I can see where you're coming from asking that question.. but still its a pretty weird thing to be thinking about.Do women become sexually excited while having their hair done in hair salon?
No, that's only when they use herbal essences shampoo and conditioners.
Just when they ';blow'; dry my hair!
    no
uhhh no. you've obviously never gone to a salon with long hair, cause if you had you would know that they HURT you. from the moment they start washing your hair, water's too hot or freazing cold, to when they yank a comb through your wet hair, not caring the slightest that they're not detangling it but PULLING IT OUT, and then finally when it's time to blow dry and they think holding the hairdryer half an inch from your scalp doesn't burn your head. haha maybe i just need to get a new hairstylist......
Wes;if I didn't know better i'd think there is more to this than just the question you asked. If so,explain it before you piss every woman and most guy's off!
    not really
Not at all. It's just relaxing.

I have curly hair and want straight. How bad will chemically straightening at a salon damage my hair.?

I don't mind using a flat iron it just takes to long and I don't really have the patients for it. How much is it at a salon to straighten it?I have curly hair and want straight. How bad will chemically straightening at a salon damage my hair.?
Every salon is different.I have curly hair and want straight. How bad will chemically straightening at a salon damage my hair.?
Depends on the condition of your hair and the texture of your hair. If your hair is strong and thick you won't have as much damage. Another big thing is the skill of your hairdresser. If he/she isn't careful it can be over processed. Check with your hairdresser for the cost. It varies for salons and your sylists experience. It depends on the length of your hair as well.
The few cases I've seen done did not turn out the way the owner's expected. Instead of straight and silky it turned out straight, frizzy and dull.
it wont... ok heres wut you do:

    tub.
a bunch it depends on where you go

however i have a friend who did that %26lt;her and i BOTH have naturally curly hair%26gt; and she regretted it

it made her hair terribly dry and frizzy and even now years later it still doesn't curl right

    i wouldn't do it

i have learned to LOVE my hair after years of hating it

but it makes a difference when you have the right hair products
i dunno sweety good luck w that
DONT DO IT!! I had a bad perm about 2 years ago and got talked into chemically straightening it back. Horrible decision on my part without knowing all of my options. My hair was totally damaged and frizzed out afterwards. After letting it all grow out and getting regular haircuts my hair is starting to get back to normal.

The cost can run around $100 depending where you go. I went to Regis and supposively had a ';master stylist'; do it. What a joke!

Trust me, just keep using a flat iron. You may not have the patience for it now but when you can't do anything with it because it is so stripped and dry you will regret it. Plus, it smells horrible!!!
As with all hair treatments (coloring, styling and yes even flat irons) there will be some damage done to your hair, but if you are working with a trained professional they can help keep it under control. The cost depends on your stylist, or their studio and how much they charge, Be sure to do research and find the best person you feel most comfortable with doing the job. Also, depending on how curly your hair is, be prepared to sit around for up to 8 hours waiting for the process to take effect.
plz plz plz dont go in salon and dont use any chemical on yr hair i know it damge alot yr hair if u want yr hair so .......
If your hair's already damaged then I wouldn't do it because it's going to make it even worse and it won't look healthy and what about regrowth? You can get shampoos from salons that relax your hair slightly and don't damage it, or why not just keep it curly? I used to be like you and had to straighten it all the time but now I'm paying the price because even though I've stopped it's really unhealthy and dry!
I recently got my hair thermally reconditioned (chemically straightened) and I did it because I hated having to wake up early to straighten it. The salon I went to called it Japanese hair straightening. When it first came out in early 2000 it was super expensive, but now people opt for natural hair, so it's much more affordable. The place I went to charged $250, but I think it depends on where you live and the salon you go to, but be VERY choosy where you do go. If they don't do a strand test for during a FREE consultation and don't ask about previous chemical treatments (perms, coloring, etc.) don't use them. My hair is actually EXTREMELY shiny, soft, and STRAIGHT now, I love it. I only have to blow dry my hair after my shower and put a little Biosilk in it and it looks like I spent hours with my straightener. I highly recommend it, but make sure you do your research on a good place. Good luck!
I've had straight hair all my life and would die to have curly hair. Don't do it! I'm sure you look beautiful, just the way you are!
It depends on the condition and type of hair that you have. There are many different kinds or relaxers. Your stylist will choose the best one for you. Your hair should be fine. Just follow what your stylist tells you. Use deep conditioners (professional).
i say go wild straighten it hoo cares if it frys yr hair lol
chemical straightening is much better for your hair than it used to be...although I have never done it. What stopped me was not the damage, but rather what it would look like when curly hair starts growing in under the straight hair.....not so good.
    itll be okay

  • What is the best kind of flooring for a busy hair salon?

Anything rugged. Stained concrete is an option, albeit an expensive one.

It doesn't have the cracks and grout lines that would interfere with sweeping up hair, etc.

What is the best kind of flooring for a busy hair salon?
Ceramic tile is a very durable surface and it is recommended for basically any type of application. It's water resistant; they are porcelain tile which is frost resistant, frost proof in some cases. They are laid and installed even outdoors. Then you have got slate stone flooring which is hard as a rock and the styling that goes into ceramic tile gives you a lot of design opportunities and flexibility. The primary advantage is the ease of maintenance and the durability combined with styling of the floor.

Better use Porcelain ceramic tiles which are made from a blend of fine-grain clays and other minerals to produce a very dense body, which makes it highly resistant to moisture, staining and wear. Because of these features, porcelain tile will withstand years of heavy foot traffic in both interior and exterior applications while maintaining its color and beauty. What is the best kind of flooring for a busy hair salon?
Aside from the durability it will require you need to think about standing on that floor all day. A good compromise might be solid vinyl. This is a thick tile that is colored through and through (the front and back are the same) and it wears like iron. It isn't the most beautiful look but can be quite nice. Tile wears great but can be cold looking and tough on your back when you stand all day as well as allowing noise to sound even louder. Go to a flooring store and have a look at some samples and ask them some for details about wear etc.
VCT tile. It is very durable, the tiles bump flush together so no hair can get into the cracks. Call any General contractor or flooring contractor. Hair and dirt have a tendancy to stick to the grout lines of ceramic tile, as well as painted concrete.

This tile will last a long time and can be replaced tile by tile if needed.
VCT would be your best bet. You can buy several colors and make a design. Also, a little water on it wouldn't cause a problem, and if you damage one, you can heat it up with a hairdryer and replace it yourself. You can also use a luxury tile and not have to wax it.
Must agree with drfrieze. . . a high grade vinyl would serve well. Remember, you ladies are standing for hours on end. . . trust me, ceramic tile will KILL you! Be nice to your feet!
I would think a heavy ceramic tile would work best since it dosen't show much wear, and it's still fairly easy to clean.
dark coloured ceramic floor tiles to avoid staining from hair colours. laminate and wood tends to stain. good luck!
I would put in a good commercial grade vinyl tile.
