find the way which make you like your hair as it is: likes your head as it is !!
You need to see a specialist. It could be a natural slowdown but if it is not growing at all, it could be related to nutrition or hormones.

  • Where can I purchase salon quality hair coloring products to do on my own?

Aside from Sally Beauty, which is open to the public, the only places you can buy the stuff professionals use (like at Ace) is if you have a license. Before I had my license I used to have my friend who WAS licensed go w/ me and buy whatever I wanted.Where can I purchase salon quality hair coloring products to do on my own?
the closest i think you'll get is Sallys beauty supply :)

you can buy the products without a licenseWhere can I purchase salon quality hair coloring products to do on my own?
I don't think you can buy these hair products from a hair supply shop unless you have a cosmetology license. You can buy other products but I don't think color is one of them. Check it out for yourself.
go to your nearest hair stores

Should I highlight my own hair or go to a salon?

I have very little money right now and have a few grays. I would only be doing a partial highlight. I have strawberry blonde hair-there are no avatar options for this color.

    Should I:

Get a cap and wand from Sally Beauty supply along with some gentle highlighter?

    Buy a kit from Target?

Go to the local cosmetology school and take my chances there too?

I need a gentle highlighter as my hair is dry. Any recommendations?Should I highlight my own hair or go to a salon?
Save your money, even if it is $5/ week and get it done at a salon. Scratch up the $, its well worth it.Should I highlight my own hair or go to a salon?
doing your own hair is not THAT difficult. My tips would be:

    - get a rubber cap if you can, one that fit tightly at any rate

    - pull only a few strands through each hole and try and make the amounts about the same for an even look

    - follow the instructions on how to mix the chemicals - especially the 'patch test'

    - if you are finding putting the needle throught the cap awkward get a friend to help

    - do it when you have plenty of time - a rush job is bound to be not as good

    - rinse really well afterwards and use a shampoo for dry/treated hair and a conditioner even if you don't usually bother

    - with practise you will get better

    - doing it yourself saves LOADS of money even on prices at a hairdressing school - go there for when you need a cut
I would go to the cosmetology school! Maybe ask for someone who is about ready to graduate! The teachers are always right there to help the students decide what color to do. I don't think you can go wrong with hightlights. They will know better than you just doing it yourself. Good Luck!
There is no such thing as a gentle highlighter, you highlight with bleach. If I were you I would go to the local cosmetology school. There teachers are supposed to be supervising them to make sure they dont mess up.

Recommend a Black Hair Salon in Rhode Island and/or Boston?

Hi, I'm new 2 the New England area %26amp; I need a beautician. Since I have no family up here %26amp; very few friends (yes, I need to get out more) I would really appreciate some recommendations on who can really do hair out here.

Basically I'm looking for a relaxer %26amp; 2 have it flat-ironed (but u know, by somebody who knows what they're doing: who'll put oil on ur scalp b4 they put on the relaxer, who uses like 3 different conditioners, who knows how 2 flat iron without totally messing up ur hair, making it dry and brittle!.. some1 who is good!)

I had a bad experience when I was little when this woman made my hair fall out! (my hair is long, it's not really kinky, just really THICK new growth %26amp; grows like crazy! think of a lion)

The hair falling out totally sucks, so I'd like 2 avoid that if possible.

So if u know of a couple of beauticians or if u can recommend urs I would b more than grateful.

Hey! %26amp; if u want 2 send me pics of ur gorgeous hair and the info of your beautician, great!

Thanx.Recommend a Black Hair Salon in Rhode Island and/or Boston?
Good Question. I actually have been looking for awhile and settled with this place in Malden. They relax my hair and cut it to a style I really like. The price is really resonable. When they relax my hair they put the pre-relaxer stuff in it and then they put the relaxer in of my choce (sensative scalp, regular). They rince it and do a conditioner (I think they use 2) and they set you under the dryer. A lot of african american/hatian/jamica women go there and there hair is really really long and they go back time after time.

Oh and they don't do curling irons but the other kind. I think flat irons (i'm not sure of the name). I would get my hair curled but nope not the curling type. If you want more info send me a message

What do i need to open a braiding hair salon in maryland? please help?

i want to open a hair braiding salon in maryland but i dont know how to stard. iam tired of working for people i want to be my own boss. please help me or maybe if you know any work at home jobs, or a business that i can be my own boss and it will not cost me alot of money. thanks and god blessWhat do i need to open a braiding hair salon in maryland? please help?
I would advise you to start small. Talk to friends and family and see if they can be your initial clients. Maybe you can braid and not take on additional staff till you can afford them.

I have a 3 year old daughter in NJ who gets her hair braided every 2-3 weeks. Maybe you could also focus on the younger kids and grow your clientele from there. All the while, making sure to work from home initially. This will keep your expenses down. No rent charges!

When your clientele increases you can hire space and additional staff. Feel free to advertise online, in the dailies and at universities (college kids love to braid too) for clients.

Good Luck! What do i need to open a braiding hair salon in maryland? please help?

What would be the price-or charge at the beauty salon to have your hair braided into corn rows?

I have long hair .Does this matter? When should you take them out? What would be the price-or charge at the beauty salon to have your hair braided into corn rows?
If it's your own hair about $25-$30 bucks, but if you add hair add about $20 to the price. I was charge $35 for straight to the back cornrows here in Detroit (cheap price) including hair but the braider did it at home Shop visits cost more of course. Wear Cornrows (well treated) for about 2-3 weeks, wash and deep condition afterwards. What would be the price-or charge at the beauty salon to have your hair braided into corn rows?
depend on the salon places where i asked about ranged from 20-40 dollars also depends on how far back and how many. my friends sister did it for me and charged me 5 bucks so i saved about 35 dollars! lol
Depending on where you go, probably about 40 bucks. The length of your hair shouldn't matter. They usually charge you based on your age. If your a child, you would be charged the child rate. If not, then they usually have a set adult rate for corn rows.

I would recommend taking the corn rows down after about a week or two. You hair would need a good washing by then anyways. Plus the cornrows would be ratty looking by then.

    Hope that helps!

WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD I BE ASKING WHEN BUYING A HAIR SALON ?

whats the current market sentiment of women? well whatever your target race, age etc is.

if the worst case scenario comes, can your business handle it? weither it be profit or otherwise.

whats your strategy for getting business?

what sets you apart from the other 100000000000000000 hair salons out there?

can you diversify beyond just doing hair?, like selling products, even consider opening a spa since its apart of body care and beauty.

alot of questions you need to be asking, but these come to mind for me.

good luck to you, and strategize, hope and work for the best, but plan for the worst as much as you can.

Can I get my hair thinned at a beauty salon?

and most store bought anti-frizz shampoos don't work on me so what do I ask for and what could they do. Does this cost any extra money. Can I get my hair thinned at a beauty salon?
i have paul mitchel stuff. the regular price was 79. ouch. i got it for 16 at a hair show though. this is amazing stuff.i have really thin hair so it gets frizzy and this really helps. also you can get your hair thined in any hair salon or any place that cuts hair. Can I get my hair thinned at a beauty salon?
you can get it done at beauty salons just make sure they don't use the thinning shears too close to your scalp they should be at least an inch to inch and a half off your scalp any close and your the hair that does get cut will stick straight out. the thinning shears are like regular shears with little notches taken out of them that only cut some of your hair
yes they can thin your hair
Thinning is usually part of the cut but if you have frizzy hair the shorter hairs will very likely stick out more won't they? Thinning doesn't take hair from the root, it cuts it shorter, and if your hair is wilder shorter, keep that in mind.

If you are trying to tame wild hair consider straightening. It is expensive but will last until your hair grows out at lot at the scalp. A lot of people go for 9 months to a year between straightening. Choose someone carefully, ask around a lot and if you are shopping cheap stylists, make sure you see they have done, like any chemical process, it can damage hair if it's done wrong.
    Yes you can!

it doesnt cost any extra. the hairdresser has special scissors that thin your hair. just ask for it at your next haircut.
you can thin ur hair.. they just use special scissors, its really cool they once did it to me..cuz i had super frizzy hair
I get my thinned out every now %26amp; then. I just ask %26amp; it doesn't cost me extra. just let them know what you want.

I want to open a hair salon with self employed stylists on a 50/50 basis. Will i pay VAT on their turnover?

I'm very confused on the chair rent in salons. I've been told that VAT is not applicable if I charge a fixed daily / weekly rate. I would prefer to have self employed stylists on a 50 / 50 set up. Will i still need to pay VAT on the percentage I make from them? Do i pay VAT on a flat rate chair rent? Would love to hear from a anyone who can shed some light on the VAT minefield of chair renting.I want to open a hair salon with self employed stylists on a 50/50 basis. Will i pay VAT on their turnover?
If you are registered for VAT then you will have to add VAT to everything you charge the stylist. If you are not presently registered for VAT you will have to be careful incase the amount you are charging the stylist takes you over the registration limits (currently 拢61,000 pa). Your Hairdressing Federation will have information about how to deal with chair rentals and how to word the agreement.I want to open a hair salon with self employed stylists on a 50/50 basis. Will i pay VAT on their turnover?
Not VAT, but their will be some tax added the revenue hat you recieve from them using your chair will be classed as your revenue and thus you will be required to pay tax for this revenue.

P.S. i would go and speak to the tax office as you may get misled.
u have them rent your chair, which you pay vat on premises for.

they are self employed, they pay their own stamps ,nat insurance, tax.what they give you is up to them to declare,if u know what i mean,
The powers that be would probably work out a similar thing to what happened in the building trade. You have a team of three workers, two brickies and one labourer and they all used to work out their own tax returns, Then along came the dreaded VATMAN who ruled one man in the team was self employed, the others were employed by him. This caused the break-up of many good teams of men, and quite a few friendships into the bargain. I saw former best friends in fistfights overr the ruling................

If I were to get my hair bleached at a salon, what would be the process they would take?

YouTube vids i guess if u have them? And one more thing, bleach is some strong stuff so how would they protect my clothes and face from it?If I were to get my hair bleached at a salon, what would be the process they would take?
they just dump a bucket on your head.

bring goggles! If I were to get my hair bleached at a salon, what would be the process they would take?
Your hair needs to be dirty. Ok not that dirty, but go like 1 day without washing. All they do is mix up the bleach mixture, put it on the hair you want to bleach, then let it set. If they are bleaching your whole head then that's simple. If they are doing highlights or streaks they will either use a cap and pull hair out of it, or separate hairs with foil or just a comb. Afterwards they will either dry and comb or they will first apply toner. Sometimes when you bleach you get an orange-copper color which most people do not like. This can be removed to make it more of an ash color, a golden blond color, platinum blond or even white. Sometimes they will put another color on top of it, it depends on what you want.

They will cover your ears and face with some kind of cream, plastic and/or towels as well as put a robe on you. However, there is always a chance of it seeping through so I would suggest wearing a shirt you don't care much about. They shouldn't get it on your pants but if they are sloppy then it may be worth putting on a pair of pants you don't care about either.

Well its not in Grand Rapids, but about a half an hour north in Grant MI. It's called cuts r us. Very inexpensive. I prefer Deb, Mellissa or Missy. High lites and low lites are like $50.00 including hair cut. Hair cuts alone are $10-15.00. Waxing is like $3.00 or something like that. They are amazing and cheap. They are constantly going to hair show so they are very up to date with all the newest products and styles.

Desire to open a studio hair salon- questions?

My ultimate goal and dream in my career as a stylist and makeup artist is to open up a studio salon. I have unique ideas and have had a business plan drawn up for two years, but keep adding to it as my ideas keep growing. There is no other studio salon like the one I have in mind around this area. I want to be the first to do this, but need to do some more homework first. I am a great stylist and makeup artist, but that doesn't mean I'd make a great business owner.

So these question not only apply to salon owners, but for small-business owners as well: What can I do to educate myself more on opening a business? What are the #1 things I need to know before I do this. How can I make sure that my studio salon will not fail?

Thanks in advance! Any help, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated greatly.Desire to open a studio hair salon- questions?
The FIRST thing you need to do, is to find a knowledgeable and competent accountant, that can give you good advice as to how to register your business. Have him/her explain the different advantages and pitfalls to each way to form your business, i.e. sole proprietorship, LLC, S-corp, etc. Talk to friends, relatives, and business associates that can lead you to a competent accountant, then check references, and complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Secondly, check your local community college and take a basic course in business management. There is also lots of free information on the internet about forming a small business and the steps needed to do so.

Thirdly, talk with your bank and see what your financial options are about financing your business. Once you get this information from them, go on the internet and check for competitve rates with other financial institutions.

Starting a business is a scary thing for a responsible person that wants to do things the right way. I know from personal experience :-). It sounds like you have put together a well thought out business plan, now all you need to do is muster up the courage to get out there and implement it. You will make mistakes along the way, there is no way around it, but you will gain knowledge from those mistakes. Your caution is a good thing in that it makes you remain responsible, but do not let it hold you back from realizing your dream. When you encounter something you don't know about, call someone that works in that field, they will be glad to direct you to the people who can help you.

You will continually add to your ideas for your business after it is started. Don't worry about getting them all implimented at once, do it a little at a time after you have started. Otherwise, you may never start and the ideas you have now may become obsolete before you get around to starting your business.

There are no guarantees in business as to if it will fail or not. Most of it depends on sound ideas put into action in sound ways. Offer a good service, in a good location, at a fair and competitve price, and market it effectively and have the mindset to make it successful, and it will happen. So..........

Dust off your plans and get out there and get started! Good Luck!Desire to open a studio hair salon- questions?
do it and best of luck to you
Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success %26amp; happiness in all your ventures!
I know you need to seek the advice of a CPA and review different banks for MBA loans. It sounds to me, from what you wrote that your sheer desire and creativity and determination will pull you through this. Sometimes when you want something so badly that it 'burns in your belly' you will be surprised at how much you already know. I applaud you for your decisiveness and burning desire to create not only 'beauty' and 'creativity' but to make your own dream come true. I know that you wished for more 'actual steps to take' , but I am not a professional and you need professional advice right now. I'm not sure there is ever a guarantee against failure or we would all be successful, but it is obvious you have the drive to succeed. I wish you the best of luck and admire your tenacity.
Starting a small business takes a lot of courage. But, as they say, courage does not pay the bills. To be successful – to stay in business – you need more than courage. You need a combination of hard work, skill, perseverance, and lots of luck.

Some things you need to consider:

    - ';How can I support my family while I build up by business?';

    - ';What are my abilities?';

    - ';Is there a market for the product or service I have chosen?';

    - ';How long will it take this business to reach the financial goal I have?';

You may want to read the article ';How to Start a New Business Successfully'; http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol51/launch… , which lists six steps to launch a new business successfully:

    3. Right timing is everything

If you've already got a business plan for the last 2 years YET you haven't started the business, you may want to consult with a small business guide. There are several places where you may be able to find a mentor:

    - Government Mentoring Programs such as SBDCs, which works with community colleges and local business development councils to offer mentoring programs http://www.sba.gov/sbdc/sbdcnear.html ; or the Women's Network for Entrepreneurial Training http://www.sba.gov/womeninbusiness/wnet_…

    - Volunteer programs such as SCORE http://www.score.org which is composed of mostly retired executives and entrepreneurs

    - Formal mentoring programs such as Athena Foundation http://www.athenafoundation.org/programs… , Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program http://www.helzbergmentoring.org/HEMP/ , or The Aspen Institute MicroMentor Program http://www.micromentor.org (these organizations charge minimal fee)

    - Professional organizations such as the National Women’s Business Council http://www.nwbc.gov/Mentoring/programs.h…

    Industry and trade associations

    - Local business groups, such as the chamber of commerce

    - Local chapters of business groups

Remember a business plan is only a guide. In fact, I've met many entrepreneurs in my line of work who eventually found their business plans USELESS because of too many simplistic (if not tototally false assumptions made). It may do you good if you enroll in an entrepreneurship course. SBA has a network of training and counselling services per state http://www.sba.gov/ed/ - you may want to contact their agency in your state and find out the free or low cost training programs they offer. They have courses such as Smart Start Entrepreneur 101 for $35

    Or check the associations.

    - Professional Beauty Association http://www.probeauty.org/ offers business training programs for hair salon owners.

    - The Salon Association http://www.salons.org/learninglounge/ind… has a Learning Lounge educational tour that is designed specifically for salon owners.
Just do it baby, you can do it. I did. No one told me I couldn't so I did. I was working in a Mall salon , not good. So I found a little barber shop that was empty, I had taken barber classes with American Crew and some other Master Barbers after basic beauty school. I inquired around the town to see if the people would accept a female barber. Then I just got my supplies and equipment and I opened. I gave seniors a discount and I did cuts, styles, facials, perms and color, manicures and pedicures. I would not try to open on a grand scale right away. Let that be your goal. Start small and grow. It is a cut throat business, a lot of jealousy. It is hard to get good help that will be loyal , so be careful in this area. Keep your thoughts to yourself, don't trust your mind to your help. Don't allow gossip in your shop and don't talk religion or politics. Work hard keep focused

keep a good stock, anticipate what you need and get it. Always be ready for what comes through the door, everything will believe me. Use the best products. And the best cutting instruments, it makes a difference. I served people from all over the world

with all types of hair, good shears are a God send. Best of Luck
first of all, is there a demand for your ideas in your area?if so, try to get a small buissness loan or maybe a government grant.many grants are either paid back with little or no interest.some are not required to even be paid back.most loans are also paid back at a low interest ratr.

Wat is the wax they use in the salons?? brand/??

i want to buy some of the professional wax that they use. so if you know what they use culd you please tell me, also what is the cream they use before hand and after??? x xWat is the hair removal wax they use in the salons??
it is sugar wax. and there is no particular brandWat is the hair removal wax they use in the salons??
they are usually different brands that you most likly won't be able to buy online or at your local store because they are bought straight from the company in large qualities for bulk sale. you may find similar products are you local cvs or walgreens. also the cream after is normally a vasaline or something close to it. before they use a cooling lotion. Dove carries one that is very very similar.

i recommend that you don't wax your eyebrows yourself unless you have had prior experiance. it is VERY risky, you just just get a professional waxed once and groom in frequently.
Salons use hair removal brands like Gigi and Lorbette and Sugar Pro.

Virtually all salons use heated waxes with a wax warmer. Heated hair removal waxes are far more effective than no heat formulations.

Is it safe to box dye your hair after previously having salon highlights?

I have naturally dirty blonde hair and lighter blonde highlights and i'd like to dye by hair a shade of darker brown with box dye how bad is this for your hair?Is it safe to box dye your hair after previously having salon highlights?
The question isn't if it is safe. Of course, it has to be safe, if it is for sale. I think what you may have meant (but didn't say so) was will it hurt your hair. Or rather, would it destroy your hair.

Of course not. It's not that powerful-- on its own. But you always need to consider what kind of hair you have. Just because it is safe ';for normal hair';, you may be an exception. You really need to understand what is happening when you colour hair. (you know of course, that dye is only used on fabrics?)

The problem with highlighted hair is that you have different kinds of porosity. That is a big determining factor when colouring or perming hair. What will happen is that the colour pigments you are using in the product will absorb differently into the various kinds of hair you have. So you may get darker deeper shades in the bleached hairs. If it's dark enough, you may not see them. Because the bleached hairs do not have a base of much colour, you may get some off shades, such as green or purple or gray tones only on the hi-lited hairs. You will not get an even colour.

You will also get faster fading from the bleached hairs. That won't show up for some time later. The bleached hair (the hi-lites) are double- or triple-processed -- that is where the real problem comes up. This hair is more damaged than most of the other hairs. In time, they may present you with extensive damage that just cannot be repaired.

Am I saying not to colour over your highlights? Not at all. I am saying, be aware of what you are doing, and of how to process the hair without further damage. There are ways. That is why it is best that you have this performed by a qualified professional hair colourist who has all the training, the skills, the experience and the resources to do this with the utmost care and attention. You do want it to look good, don't you? Judging by what you see on the street, most people really don't care.Is it safe to box dye your hair after previously having salon highlights?
just like everything else it has pros and cons. Now its fine if you dye your hair with a box dye, i have done it a bunch of times the only cons of doing it is your hair will stop growing for a few months and if you mess up you might not like it!

but as long as you dont dye it a bunch of times you should be fine!! =)
Depends on your hair. If you have thin, fragile hair, you might break it off..... If you have thicker, healthy hair it should be fine. Just make sure you leave it on for the right amount of time. And if possible just get a trim afterwards so it will look nice and healthy!
    well

    it depends i guess

    i had blond highlights

    and they turned orange

so i put brown coloring over it and they were still very noticeable

i dont think its bad for your hair because u just have higlights your whole head hasnt just been colored

    maybe ask a professional
its not bad at all, i was Platinum blonde and i tried to dye dark brown but it came out to a lighter brown
use semi permanent, this way there is no peroxide in it and it will not damage your hair at all
yea its not any worse for your hair than dying it in the first place

  • Does anybody know of a good hair salon in Pasadena, LA?

I'm off to LA next week for the first time as crew and have a 2night stop over, if anybody knows of a reputable salon in the Pasadena area please let me know. Thanks.xDoes anybody know of a good hair salon in Pasadena, LA?
There are many, but my best friend always liked Nippers, just off Lake. It is a husband-wife team, and I got the impression she liked the wife's work better. They are at 915 East California Blvd. He is Sonny Hughes, and I found him a bit full of himself, but their place is well-regarded.

I googled ';nippers pasadena'; which might give you a sense of it.

Beyond this, there is a salon at the corner of Hudson and Green that is long established and I gather is good. It would be high fashion and modern.

Best of luck to you, and please enjoy your stay in my beloved Pasadena.

How do I ask for a emo hair cut in the salon?

Okay so I want an emo hair cut and i gave them a picture and they cut it real crappy. Like not the way I wanted.

So I was wondering like how do I ask them? my hairs like medium-short.

So is there like a good way of explaining it?

Or like giving them a certain picture? How do I ask for a emo hair cut in the salon?
short layered, razored, cut with side bangs.

Don't even mention emo.How do I ask for a emo hair cut in the salon?
I think that is one of the few things that you have to pay good money for. I think that every hair stylist has they're own style of cutting hair. Perhaps a style that they would use for themselves. Talk to other people and ask where they go. Also, if you get some older woman who has been cutting hair for a while you are most likely to get whatever style they want to give you. I don't go to salons. I don't trust a hairstylist to do what I ask of them. I can honestly say that I have been to a salon about 4 times in my whole life and I am 39 now. A good looking 39 I might add. I usually get a friend who cuts hair to do it. The last time I went to a salon my mother took me. I was about 15 years old. I did grow up in the 80's but I didn't like all of the hair styles then. I just wanted it trimmed to make my mother happy and the woman butchered my hair so badly that I looked like a boy. I wanted to kill her right then and there. I to this day remember how I felt when she did that to me. I still want to kill her for it. My mother too. They really should be taken out. I imagine she has ruined plenty of girls lives with her old lady cutting skills. I am surprised that she didn't give me a blue tinted hair color like all of the other old ladies in the shop.

But really, my son does the emo thing and his hair is always the way he wants it. He goes to his hairdressing friends. Also if you go in and the woman doing your hair doesn't have hair similar to the way you want your hair then go to someone else.
Most stylists are up to date on emo looks - although it doesn't sound like the last one you went to was. It’s a good idea to take pictures with you. DailyMakeover.com has a library of emo haircuts you can check out - http://www.dailymakeover.com/gallery/tid… If you want to try them on before having the cut done, just upload a picture and see which one looks best on you.

Hope I helped! Rachel Hayes, Editorial Director of Daily Makeover
well you wouldn't want to give them a picture, you would want to describe the picture to them like ';I want this stran black and the front-right of my bangs long and the other side short about 1-2 inches'; so describe it don't give them a picture or they will get confused and then what happaned to you will happan to lots of people.
guide them as they cut your hair, tell them you want it ';this'; short here and ';this'; short here, and you want ';these'; highlights here, and all, and be sure to be as smartassy as possible... and dont hold back to tell them they or messed up the last time, they should know...
Just do it yourself... It's not like anyone could tell the difference between a ';good'; emo haircut and a ';bad'; one.

An emo haircut looks like the ';stylist'; was blind folded and suffering from parkinsons. why do that to yourself? (trendy sheep maybe?)

how can you find time to cry and write bad poems when you're worried about your hair?
give them a certain picture and go to a pro my sis has an emo hair cut and everyone loves it and make sure u tell them exactly what u want if they mess up tell them what they did and what u dnt like about it and then ask them if they could fix what they messed up on
just take a picture of exactly what you want. get the right length, colour, choppiness, how much its teased etc.

and take it to a good hairdresser, maybe if you know anyone with a good emo haircut, ask them who did it for them.

    :)

find which one you like, print it, and give it to the stylist.

Emo haircuts are about to be not in style, so have fun growing it out.
first of all those guys down there are a.ss holes.

Second of all i think you have to show them the volume you want.

You could also tell them short choppy layers. And then to tease your hair.

    I hope that helps.
    ask for a ';scene hairstyle';

and if they don't know what you're talking about, show them a picture of what you want.
before gettng it cut make sure they know what they are doing.

What's the average time to get ones family's hair done at a salon for a wedding?

Would it be 1 to 2 hours, or more than that? What's the average time to get ones family's hair done at a salon for a wedding?
It depends on how many women and how many stylists. If there are enough stylists for all the women to get their hair done at the same time, it will take about 90 minutes. If there is only one or two stylists it could take up to 5 hours. What's the average time to get ones family's hair done at a salon for a wedding?
    Call your salon and ask.

I had 5 ladies get their hair done, 1 with full make-up, and 2 with eye makeup only. They had enough stylists that it only took 2 hours to get us all done.
It depends on how many people need their hair done and how many stylists are available. Call the salon and ask - they will be able to give you a very close estimate.
Probably 2 hours or more but it depends on the number of people. I was in a wedding where 8 girls had hair and makeup and it took 4 hours.
for only one about 45 to an hour.No more than an hour.

  • Do you like getting your Hair Washed at the Salon?

Do you open or close your eyes for the shampoo?Do you like getting your Hair Washed at the Salon?
I hate it, it hurts my neck leaning over the sink.Do you like getting your Hair Washed at the Salon?
I love it. I close my eyes and enjoy it. Always speak up and let the person know if you need warmer or cooler water. Water feels differently on someones hands rather than a head. They should use their fingertips, not nails when they wash your hair. It stimulates your scalp and that is very healthy. Your scalp needs stimulating everyday by either brushing your hair or massaging your scalp. ENJOY!!
i don't really like it. I feel like everyone is staring at me, and that i look stupid with my head bent back. lol. I usually close my eyes just to make it seem like it'll go faster and soon be done and over with. Occasionally i'll open my eyes, but for me, it's not relaxing at all like other people say it is....it hurts my neck!
I like my salon because you have your own private room during your appointment. You sit in the chair and lean back, the sink actually supports your neck so it doesn't hurt. It's expensive, but it is certainly worth it.
i hate it! she gets shampoo all over my forehead and the metal of the sink hurts your neck soooo bad! and the water is freezing all the time!
uh sometimes close. i love it when they do it, their shampoo is amazing and makes my hair look great. haha
I love it! I close my eyes too :)

But when I was in Japan, it was great!

I love the scalp massage with shampoo. Its just very relaxing
yes! I don't know why getting my hair shamppoed feels so good and relaxing, but it always does. haha.

Which of these is worse for my hair? salon or store-bought dye?

i have dyed my hair a lot and i have always gotten it done professionally at a salon. but i was thinking about just buying the kind from the store instead, because it is a LOT cheaper. would it be better for my hair to get the do it yourself kind? i thought that maybe it would since i dont have to ';bake'; my hair under a heater. is it better for your hair since there's no heat? or does the heat just help the dye to set more and the dye itself is what does the damage?Which of these is worse for my hair? salon or store-bought dye?
    Both are very terrible.

The bad part about them, is the certain chemical in it. Look for a hair dye with no alcohol or ammonia, which you will likely have to do online.

The heat bakes/fries it into your hair, and the extreme heat (in spite of the place done) will permanently damage your roots, a small amount at a time.Which of these is worse for my hair? salon or store-bought dye?
store bought unless they have really popular dye
Honey the heat is what allows the dye to penetrate into the hair shaft. The dye is about the same, the heat just causes it to process faster and stay in much longer. The problem with box crap from the drugstore is that we have no idea what it is, or what volume of developer they are using. This is crucial stuff when dying hair, so you are going to have unpredictable results from box dye and it will not stay as long. If you are just doing black or dark brown, go ahead, but if it is anything more complicated, don;t bother, you are going to regret.

  • What kind of hair care treatments for dry hair are available at the salon?

Is there one in the first place? What is the name of the process so I can tell the salon? Thanks. What kind of hair care treatments for dry hair are available at the salon?
I really like the Goldwell Inner Effects treatments. Unlike most hair treatments, this gets inside the cuticle and fills in all the little holes that are created from heat styling, coloring, lightening, and any other causes. Also its great for replenishing the moisture that your hair may be missing. The treatments are customized by the professional to suit the needs of your hair. The other benefit of this treatment is that it can help you get volume, help you smooth frizzy hair, or it can do a little bit of both depending on the formula mixed by the professional. You can also buy at home treatments which can help too.

here are a few I would recommend::

Bumble and Bumble creme de coco mask (also great to put in your hair while your laying out in the sun, the heat from the sun helps activate the product.

    KMS moisture treatments

Paul Mitchell Super charged moisture treatments

Bumble and Bumble Deep- its a conditioning treatment that should only be used about once or twice a month because sometimes too much moisture can blow out the cuticle and make your hair limp and lifeless.

All treatments should be used moderately. too much moisture can be a bad thing. So try every other week for most or even just once a month or so. Read directions and use your best judgment...or better yet just ask a Professional what they recommend for your hair type.

to find a goldwell salon near you go to www.goldwell.com

look under the salon searchWhat kind of hair care treatments for dry hair are available at the salon?
Each salon carries their own brand of products. Within that product line there should be a repair treatment. You can also do this at home yourself the product I would recommend is Hask Henna 'N Placenta. You can find this at your local Sally Beauty Supply.

    Hope this helps!

About how long does it take to get your hair curled at the salon?

If there's not a long wait, and if it's a temporary, not a perm.About how long does it take to get your hair curled at the salon?
    Hello,

I'd allow an hour if your going to be shampooed, blow dried and curled with a curling iron and 2 hours if your going to have a shampoo and roller dry. The first will allow for you to choose the length of curl better up your hair length, the roller dry will give a more natural curl but sounds like you may want to comb out half?About how long does it take to get your hair curled at the salon?
It depends if you have short or long hair, with long hair it takes a bit longer.

When going to a salon to get your hair trimmed, how would the stylist prefer your hair to be?

Straightened (I usually straighten my hair) or left natural?

I have naturally big curly hair, I know when I go in with curly hair they usually wash it and then trim but when I go in with straight hair they spritz it with a water bottle and then trim it. Which do they prefer?

When going to a salon to get your hair trimmed, how would the stylist prefer your hair to be?
you need to go with it curly (i have veery curly hair)... this is because the way they cut straight hair and curly hair is very different if they were to cut naturally curly hair as if it were straight... the result will not be good when your hair is curly again! When going to a salon to get your hair trimmed, how would the stylist prefer your hair to be?
I would go in with it natural so that they can see how it falls when it is curly. They will probably wash it before they cut it so it will be straight when they cut it.. but it's good if they can see it naturally too, so they can do a cut where it looks good both straight and natural.
I have wavy to straight hair( sometimes it get wavier than other time)

I o with my natural hair, the hairdresser sprays some water on it and then trim it

I like that and i think it is easier for the hairstylist
Since you usually wear it straight, straight.

A cut for curly hair would be totally different since they would shape it....therefore looking totally weird when straightened.
I just go however my hair is that day. It's their job to do my hair.
you should do your hair straight as possible are else it might not and up equal

what would i say if i called the salon to make an appointment? How do i make a hair appointment at a salon i've never been to?
';Hey my name (your name here) I want to get an appt for (this)'; They'l still ge tyou in as soon as they can.How do i make a hair appointment at a salon i've never been to?
That info would have been helpful at the start. I wish I could give questions thumbs down. Report Abuse

Well of course they would pick up the phone. Then you would state your name and when you are free to do your hair. They will probably ask for your phone number. They would choose a time or you could choose a time.
Are you serious? You do the same thing you do anywhere.

';I would like an appointment'; then you are given one. Or if you know someone's name, ask for them. It's not hard or complicated. How do you think your friend did it the first time?????

  • Do you like getting your hair washed at the salon?

I'm a hairdresser and am curious what my clients like about this part?Do you like getting your hair washed at the salon?
oh yes relaxingDo you like getting your hair washed at the salon?
Everyone tells me their favorite part of when I do their hair (aside from seeing the end result) is the shampooing part. I personally LOVE having someone else wash my hair, especially if they do the scalp massage right. It's sooo relaxing. So I guess it just depends on who does it and how.
yes its very relaxing especially when my hairdresser uses all kinds of serums etc, and when she massages my scalp.

I always find that I don't need to wash my hair for at least a couple of days because it feels so clean and silky.

The only thing I don't like is my neck hurts after a while.
I don't mind it but i get really paranoid when the hairdressers have fake nails that one is gonna get tangled in my hair. Plus it really hurts my neck and I hate it when the water gets in my ears. The products that are used make my hair smell really nice.

    I hope I helped you =)
oh yes i love it. n i also agree neck hurts abit but its worth it. then when thier combin it or styling it i almost fall asleep.. hmm i wunder y dat iz.. it feels soo good tho...

omg now i want to go....
love it! Best part about going to the hairdresser's :P

i always shut my eyes, it's so relaxing especially when they rub your head when applying shampoo/conditioner.
    Haha No..

It makes me neck hurt because they do alot of rubbing on the sides and moving around the stupid thing..and if only they put a comfie towel there..

    stupid david Anothys
it hurts my neck, and my hairdresser is very rough. maybe if she was more gentle, then i would enjoy it.
yea i love it:) i love how she like massages my head:) but my neck hurts a little so i dont like that part
No, I much prefer to wash it myself. It seems such a personal thing to do.
    yes, it feels so good
It hurts my neck a lot..

    so not really.
haha yes, it tickles my head (: and it feels good.

My hair is very thick and coarse - I wanted her to remove the bulkiness but I think she really got carried away.I have curly hair and this salon used a razor on it and now it looks terrible - what can be done to fix this?
I would recommend getting it trimmed a little on the ends, to get rid of some of the damage she caused to the ends of your hair by using a razor on your hair texture. Next time you'd like some bulk removed, have your hairdresser use some fine-tooth texturizing shears. That'll do the trick for ya =)

no not weird at all.....it actually is preferred that you show us a picture because pictures tell us exactly what you want. some clients have a hard time trying to explain what it is that they want so please bring a picture if you have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1rIs it weird to bring a picture of another guy's hairstyle to a hair salon?
nope its not its just like a girl bringing a pic of a girl and saying i want this hairstyle (i do it all the time) go for it
it is not weird, in fact , it will help the hair dresser to see what you mean and then cut it just like that.
No, its not weird, its a hairstyle! Bring it! Your hair will be exactly how you want it if you bring a picture!
no, it's normal. i brought a picture of a nude guy once, and they were alright with it.
of course it isnt wierd. its a good idea. we girls do it all the time.
no, its totally normal. Is it a hot hairstyle?
do it. it will make it easier on your stylist
no - it'd probably make it easier for your stylist to know what you want

    Laser hair removal
YES I HEARD MY SISTER GET IT AND SHE SCREAMED AND THEY SAID IT WAS A PAIN LEVEL OF 10 or about 100 if your real fragile down there....
I shave it all...why would you try waxing?Did something go wrong with shaving?

Waxing is pain, there is no way not to wax without pain.

    Just stick with shaving
there isnt really a way to wax and not have at least alittle pain

but nair is really helpful it isnt shaving or waxing and its painless!!!

and doesnt cost that much. :]
ive been shaving since the day it first came out and its not thicker its a bit rougher but not thicker its the only painless way to do it
    Shaving.

    Waxing.

    Chemical.

    Hair Removal Cream.

    %26lt;3
    waxing and yes it hurts
waxing is painful. its just a fact of life.

you can try hard wax. its different than soft wax, and doesnt use a strip.

you can coat your skin with a layer of baby powder before waxing. it helps the wax NOT stick to your skin, and only stick to the hair.

you should take some ibuprofin 20 minutes before waxing to take the edge off.

NEVER wax while on your period. you are more prone to pain during this time.
    laser hair removal works (:
You cant wax without pain.. lol i mean if you get used to waxing a lot then it will hurt less but it will always be a burn...i just shave and use hair removal cream.. apply cocoa butter when finished =D
You don't get thicker hair from shaving. %26amp; no there isn't really anything you can do.
I burn it off with matches.
if it hurts really bad when you do it yourself, it's because you're thinking about it too much and predicting the pain. it will hurt a little less at a salon because they'll use a higher grade (professional) wax and better strips. plus they do it so fast that it will be over quickly.
there's no way it's not gonna hurt. but if you wax often enough you'll just get used to it. sometimes it sucks being a girl, doesn't it? :]

    good luck%26lt;3
I shave also, have always wanted to get a wax but I am kind of shy to bare all. I have heard and read that when you get it professionally done its not too bad, and of course the first time you wax anything its going to hurt a bit but i think that the outcome is going to be so Worth it. I have also read that after you get waxed so many times that the hair thins out a bit. Good luck and let us know if you decide to do it....:o)
waxing hurts, buts its the most efficient if you dont want to shave. waxing makes the hairs grow back lighter and softer and it takes longer than shaving to grow back

go get waxed, try it out. im sure u will like the results, but just bare with the pain.

    i %26lt;3 waxing
the thing with waxing is it hurts less and less everytime, and there are mental meditation exercises you can do to ignore the pain... and shaving does not thicken hair. that is a myth. you could use nair creams... which are painfree and last longer than shaving
The thicker hair because of shaving thing is a myth.

Keep waxing and your hair will grow back slower and thinner, and should hurt less over time. Take some tylenol before going.

If you want to mix two colors, you should go to a beauty supply. You would just buy the two colors you want to mix, and the developer. It's important to know which colors will work together.

My girlfriend used to work at a place called Salon David Perez. It's in that shopping center across from UTC. Apparently it's pretty good because a lot of people liked it and she used to have to go up to LA once a month or so to learn new stuff and now that she moved back to Vegas she got a job at a salon at the Bellagio. Must be decent.

I have less than perfect credit, which Im trying to rebuild. I want to buy the hair salon that I work at.?

How do I go about getting a loan. Do I have to wait untill my credit is good again?I have less than perfect credit, which Im trying to rebuild. I want to buy the hair salon that I work at.?
It depends how ';less than perfect'; you're talking ... does that mean 700?? 600?? 400? If you're about 650 and have a good business case (i.e. documentation that shows the income of the salon is historically and consistently well above the monthly payment owed to the bank), you should be able to get a loan. So ... no you don't necessarily have to wait until your credit is better ... which can take 7 - 10 years of good credit practices.

If you're score is less than 600 it's almost a guarantee that you won't get the loan .... or if you do the interest rate will be so high you probably will have a difficult time making payments. In this case, I'd recommend talking to the current owner and see if they will agree to do owner financing. They may allow you to give them a down payment in cash and then pay monthly payments directly to them and bypass the bank completely. This would definitely work to your best interest if the current owner isn't desperate for cash and can afford to wait a few years to get paid the full amount.

DON'T waste your time with credit repair services ... they are all scams or at bare minimum are just one step above bankruptcy and this will not help your credit situation.

Good luck ... I hope it all works out.I have less than perfect credit, which Im trying to rebuild. I want to buy the hair salon that I work at.?
Answer #2 sounds reasonable. How about getting into a credit repair program that could solve your problem in 3 months then get a conventional loan.
You might do better to find a partner it will be easier to get a loan for a smaller amount. There are places other than banks to get loans try these as well. Go to a financial adviser for help if you try to apply for credit too often in a year it is bad on your credit too.
Luckily I am a successful business man ready to give you advice. You can get loans with less than perfect credit at some lenders but at a higher interst rate than normal. However a morgage on a house attracts far less interest than a business loan. So if you have a house mortgage that and use the money to buy the salon.

How can i turn my african hair into straight non frizzy hair without salon or conditiner.?

Please help ive tried every thing from frizz ease to carrot oil please help how do i get hair like russy from runs houseHow can i turn my african hair into straight non frizzy hair without salon or conditiner.?
A lot of those products, like Frizz-Ease and Biosilk, have water or alcohol and stuff that reduces their effectiveness. A few months ago I started using Simply Stylin which is pure silicone. It doesn't have those fillers that get in the way, so it's much better at controlling frizz. Plus it adds a really great shine and softness to my hair. I like their Silk serum version. I haven't found it in any stores yet, so you might have to buy it from their website www.simplystylinhair.com.How can i turn my african hair into straight non frizzy hair without salon or conditiner.?
Why would you want to do that?
Use a pressing comb and a little hair oil.
have you considered going to a salon and getting a wash then asking them to blow it straight? that will take time but if done right...it looks great
Go to your Sally's Beauty Supply and get a chemical straightener. That's the only thing that will help.

I agree with Rachelle. Go to your stylist asap and tell her/him that is NOT what you wanted and you want it fixed.I had my hair done at a salon at is has turned a gingery colour?
    peroxide

you can only really get platnium blonde from peroxide

try using something purple to get rid of the brassiness

and if you're still not satisfied with it

    peroxide it.
If you went to the salon, and asked for a specific color, not the color your hair is now, they should redo it for free, at no cost to you. I would call and speak to the stylist about it, just don't wait too long.

Is getting my hair colored at a salon worth the money or should i do it at home?

My hair has been getting lighter over the summer, so right now it is a dark blonde color on top, and brown underneath, but light blonde in the front close to my face. For fall, I want to color my hair so it is just a bit darker than my hair underneath (the color it was before summer). My mom doesnt want me to get my hair colored at a salon because it is very expensive. So should I color my hair at home (which is way cheaper) or is going to the salon and getting it colored there worth it?Is getting my hair colored at a salon worth the money or should i do it at home?
Getting your hair done at the salon is the best option if you can afford it as it don't spoil your hair as much but doing it your self is not that bad if you get a good branded hair dye. Just don't go for the cheap stuff as it doesn't look natural and the better branded ones usually last longer and make your hair shine :D

Hope This HelpedIs getting my hair colored at a salon worth the money or should i do it at home?
well if u get it color at the salon its worth it

If your mother is paying for it and says it is too expensive then you are stuck. Suggest if you want to have a salon job you get a job and pay for it yourself. Having said that if you are paying for it yourself it is

better to have the salon do it. You get a much better job, better coverage, better colour and your hair comes out in much better shape. and the colour lasts longer.
no its really worth it... you should go. ecspecially if youve never done it.
you should definatlly go to the salon cuz its really relaxing-ish and it is soooooo worth it becuz it looks really good. my friend dyed her hair from light blonde to light brown and she colored it at home and it looked TERRIBLE. it was this gross reddish blondish like orangey but really bad looking. you should go to the salon because its more professional.

no u should have to maybe bleach it once to get it lighter but i doubt it How much does it cost to dye your hair at a salon?
Your hair may need to be bleached first to take the color. My daughter's hair is very dark brown, so color doesn't work for her and I wont' allow her to bleach it due to the damage it can cause. (She has long, beautiful hair) We found a kit just for dark hair by Loreal at Walmart. She now has 'fushia flash' highlights in her hair; it's really cute and didn't require any bleaching! I can't remember the exact name of the kit, but you may want to try this before going through the salon process. Good luck!!
I think the only reason you would have to have it stripped is if you are going to dye it blonde . I have dark brown hair myself and I had it stripped to dye it a dark blonde it costed me right under 100$ GOOD LUCK :)
Depends on the length of your hair normally 70 - 80 dollars. And no you don't strip your hair to make it a dark red.
Yes...you'd have to lighten it. Depending on what you're going to get...you should expect to pay at least $80 +.
    Depends where you go.

Some places would be 拢40 other Over 拢100.

where my mom goes it could coost as much as $400

In monetary terms, it's not that expensive. However, the cost to your soul is immeasurable and devastating. Dyed hair is the work of the devil - don't fall prey to his traps.

What happens when you get your hair styled at a salon?

i mean, i've gone to salons before and stuff to get my hair cut, but i've never gone in there to get it styled. and i wanted to know what happens. also, what is an intensive treatment for your hair? i feel so clueless. What happens when you get your hair styled at a salon?
Well, they get styled! Lolz. Imean u tel the hairdressers wat u want. Like I usualy go and tell them ';I want to get my hair straightened'; or ';I want my hair to be totaly straight from the top and light curls underneath';. Just explain them wat u want, if u don't know, give them a pic of the particular style so they style them the way u want. Protein conditioners, protein foods, milk, head massage, meat and veggies r good for the hair.

Keep it natural. They will probably wash it / wet it down, which will bring out the natural wave. Plus, if your hair isn't how it naturally is, the cut may not turn out correctly.Should i wear my hair natural or straight to the hair salon [[read description]]?
Keep it Wavy. They wet it anyway.
keep it wavy and natural, they're going to style it for you anyway :)
keep it wavy. you can have a variety when you feel like having wavy hair. you can also just buy a straightener and straighten your hair when you feel like you want it straight and leave it wavy when you feel like it.
i always straighten my hair when going to the salon.

it lets your stylist see how you normally do your hair and what you might like. and how your hair looks when styled. and it lets the stylist see how your hair acts.
i am actually trying to think about this too. i have wavy/curly hair but i straighten my bangs cuz if i dont ya...its horrible sooo i want to get a razor cut on my bangs and i dont know to straighten them or leave em but for u....i would leave it natural
Keep it wavy if you want time to wash it. Sometimes if you straighten it, they don't want to wash it because it's already straight enough to cut evenly.
It really doesn't matter. I usually keep it how I normally wear it which is strait. My hair is naturally curly/wavy. Just keep it how you normally wear it.
if you always have it natural then leave it. but if you wear it staright then straighten it so they can also see how you style it .
Straighten it so the hairdresser can see how you normally wear it.

I'm very jealous, I wish I had long wavy hair.
You should wash your hair, and wear it natural to the hair salon so they can see what they have to work with, If you straighten your hair everyday, let them know that so they can give you some styling tips, or so they cut it a certain way so its supposed to look good straightened.
leave it normal. if you style it they're just going to mess up all that work to cut your hair and stuff

';I dyed my hair with a permanent hair color from Clairol, how long will it last?Should i go to a hair salon?

I've been dying my hair with clairol since i was 12.

You've used a permanent colour so it will last for a very long time until it grows out.

If you don't like the colour, i suggest going to the hair salon to get it done properly.

For now, to take some of the colour out, you can use washing up liquid, just approx. the same amount you would use as shampoo, and then massage into your hair for about 2 mins, then use conditioner to help it.

I know it sounds strange using washing up liquid but i've done it before and it is what the har stylist may suggest before you have it done professionally.

Good Luck! :)';I dyed my hair with a permanent hair color from Clairol, how long will it last?Should i go to a hair salon?
well not really it could be a waste of money but it can last long but eventually your roots will show and if not before that the colour will fade if its a dark colour but i wouldnt bother going hair dresser's only if your getting you hair trimmed or cut you may aswell ';I dyed my hair with a permanent hair color from Clairol, how long will it last?Should i go to a hair salon?
Permanent usually means Permanent. It has to grow out, or you have to cut it or color it again.
    Yeah you should.

    It'll last a loooooonnnngggg time.

How much does it cost to permanently straighten your hair? (In a reputable Salon)?

What are some of the side effects that you have experienced? How much does it cost to permanently straighten your hair? (In a reputable Salon)?
Thermal straightening, also referred to as the Japanese method, can cost anywhere from $300 to $1000, depending on the length and type of hair. This method is not entirely permanent, in the sense that as your roots grow out, they will be curly and will need to be touched up.

The main disadvantages of this process is that it contains a lot of chemicals so it can be damaging to your hair, it takes a lot of time to do, and the cost. However, the results can be great!

You can read this article for more info on this technique:

depends on were you go they can run you anywhere from 50 to 120 dollars and they don't last that long.I did mine myself i have curly hair, and i left mine in for a half an hour and it still didn't do anything for my hair it's still curly as ever.the side effects can range from nothing to it can kill your hair.Split ends and stuff like that but they can be repaired.Think about it first before you spend your money on it.
well i have naturally straight hair, but my friends is curly.she got it japenese straightened.....like what you are saying.it uses such strong heat it dries hair up. she had straight hair but it didnt look nice. you may think im making this up....but im not....and it cost her $80
nothings permanent. Why do they call them permanants when you have to go back every few months and have it redone, should be called temporarys, or just do something with what you have.
call around, salons have different price's. you will pay around 60 to 75.00
Around $50-$75 call salons around you and ask how much a relaxer costs
You can't get it done permanently but good salons can treat it for about $75.00-$100.00 an hour. The cost depends on how long your hair is. It will last a few months. You will have to go in after that for much shorter treatments for the salon to treat your root growth. It will never be straight forever.
You can't permanently straighten it - it grows out curly or wavy or straight.
